STEADY AS SHE GOES FOR CHAC

Dear Members
We hope you spent a relaxing festive season and have embarked on 2010 in good health and happy spirits.

As you recall, last year Camden Haven Arts Council had trouble attracting enough member interest to form a full committee at the AGM. We do however have the most important positions covered for now, with Catherine Davis taking on the role of president, Topsy Roberts agreeing to remain treasurer and Dianne Kennedy filling the secretary’s position. Alvena Ferguson is a committee member and looks after the newsletter and the piano.

After much soul-searching the group of four decided that to wind up CHAC may be too hasty, as the Clare Foster Memorial Scholarship fulfils an important and valued role in assisting talented young musicians to realise some of their dreams, and we have not long ago purchased a replacement piano, which is available for hire and is vitally important to the continued viability of the Kendall National Violin Competition and the Camden Haven Music Festival.

We will not be collecting 2010 subscriptions, as we may not present any events for the foreseeable future.  When the organisation is due to hold another AGM, it may then be time to call a Special Meeting of members to decide the best way forward for CHAC. Our treasurer has done the sums and assured the committee that we have enough financial reserves to continue paying the piano insurance, the CFMS 2010, and the rent at Kendall School of Arts Hall for piano and other storage, for the coming 12 months.

In the meantime we will send out occasional newsletters to keep you up to date with other events and news as it affects CHAC.

The Kendall National Violin Competition Winner Recital is coming up later this month, and the Camden Haven Music Festival in April.  If you have any questions or suggestions please contact one of us below.
